Electronic media is useful because you can access it without actually going to the campus to find the academic and science articles that you need. Instead, you search for source materials like books and recordings online. Many libraries are cataloging their materials in digital records so that they are easier to use for those in remote locations. Ask the libraries if they have the materials that you are interested in. You should also find out if they charge for using their services. You will probably find that some of the institutions that you can contact will have patron fees while others are free.
